Since last year, I’ve been helping out at my alma mater’s alumni association office.
Today at the secretariat, I saw a letter that made me happy.
I like Cupie Danny too much, so I took Cupie Danny to the office and played with it. My junior high school teacher said with a laugh, “Can you make one with our school uniform on?” It looked interesting, so I decided to try it.
After making various prototypes such as summer uniforms, winter uniforms, and hairstyle variations, three girls were created. I named them Shoko-chan, Erika-chan, and Risa-chan.
The school I went to is a Christian school. During the Christmas season, the alumni association sends Christmas cards to alumni over the age of 80.
The teacher said, “Why don’t you make a Kewpie in uniform for this year’s Christmas card? Go to school and take a picture.”
I crouched under the stairs in front of the main entrance of my alma mater and took a picture of the three of them.
In the letter, she is now in her 80s, and her three sisters went to her alma mater. When she looks at the girls on the Christmas card, she thinks they are three sisters in the picture. She said she would cherish the card. The school building was destroyed by air raids during the Pacific War, but the stairs in front of the main entrance remained unburned. It seems that I was happy that I was photographed in front of the stairs.
The uniform the girls wears has not changed since before the war, and I wore it as well, but the third year of high school, which will graduate in March of this year, will be the last one.

去年から母校の同窓会事務局のお手伝いをしています。
今日事務局で、とてもうれしいお手紙を見ました。
キューピーダニーが好き過ぎる私は、事務局にもダニー君を連れていき遊んでいました。中学時代の先生が「うちの制服着せたの作りーね（下関弁）」と笑いながら言いました。なんだか面白そうだから、作ってみる事にしました。
夏服、冬服、髪型といろいろ試作をしていると、３人出来ました。しょうこちゃん、えりかちゃん、りさちゃんと名前を付けました。
先生が、「それ、クリスマスカードにしようやぁ。あんた写真撮っておいで」
母校の正面玄関の前の階段の下に這いつくばって３人の写真を撮りました。
そのお手紙には、今８０代の彼女は、姉妹３人が母校に通ったそうです。クリスマスカードのキューピーを見ていると、自分たち姉妹３人が写っているようで大切にしてくださると。戦争の空襲で校舎などは焼けてしまったのですが、正面玄関の前の階段だけは焼けずに残ったそうです。その階段もうれしかったようです。
キューピーが着ている制服は、戦前から変わらず、私も着たのですが、今年の３月に卒業する高校三年生が最後になります。
どうしてあの子たちは制服を着ているの？と思う方もいるかもですが、そんな経緯で出来た3人娘です。
