Come On-A KANMON ♪

Welcome — and thank you for finding this page.

I'm sorry I can no longer guide you in person around Kanmon.
But everything I would have shown you is here, in writing.

Why I stopped guiding

Guiding meant reaching a handful of visitors at a time. Writing means these histories survive beyond me — for readers, researchers, and the families of those who passed through Kanmon. My work is now full-time archival research and writing.

The histories from the flyer

The Korean War, Kokura Memorial Cross & Allied POWs

The 1951 Memorial Cross, the 24th Infantry Division, the quarantine station on Hikoshima, and the soldiers who passed through Kanmon. All documented in the MacArthur archive.

Angels Swing — For The Boys

The wider archive: the Boys of the 24th, Leonard Gaskin, Monica Lewis, Donald Versaw, and the people who carried these stories with me.
