From Liner notes

When compiling this best-of album, I selected from over a dozen Egrem albums, and I was so nostalgic that I almost cried. It’s been six years since our first trip to Cuba, but Los Bang Bang has always been a top band and is still leading the way.

After choosing Los Van Van’s “Llegué Llegué” as the theme song for the movie “Topaz | Tokyo Decadence”, the friendship between leader Van Former and I began. Los Van Van is about to celebrate 30 years since its formation. Of course, Juan Formell’s musical ambitions have not diminished.

The 12 songs included here are all masterpieces that are worthy of the word “gem”. We have selected masterpieces from the history of Cuban music, or rather the world’s popular songs.

I remember Havana in September 1992.
On the balcony of the Hotel Riviera, overlooking the 180-degree panoramic view of the deep blue ocean, I turned up the volume on my compact stereo and listened to Van Van all the time. The music entered my body, and I felt as if I had had my first orgasm during sex. There was nothing superfluous, no sense of self, just the music and the sea.

Since then, Van Van has never once disappointed me, whether it’s in live concerts or on new releases.

There’s nothing more to say.
